Astor radios were only made for a short while in the late 50s and early 60s by Pye after they had bought Radio Corp.

This is a 5 valve radio with a very narrow 10" x 2" speaker. It has broadcast plus 2 shortwave bands, and auxiliary input for gram. It is untouched, and not working, at this stage. Made by Akrad Radio in the little town of Waihi.

It has now been repaired, and works very well indeed. It has a surprisingly good sound, considering the size, or narrowness, of the speaker.
